If you’ve ever tossed and turned at night with your mind racing through worries, responsibilities, or all the “what ifs” that never seem to stop, you’re not alone. The world around us never seems to rest. The news never ends. The pressure to do more, be more, and control more feels relentless. But peace isn’t found in getting everything done or fixing every problem. Real rest—deep, soul-level rest—comes from three simple, life-changing choices.

1. Choose to believe there is a Creator. You didn’t arrive here by accident. You were created on purpose, for a purpose, by a loving God who designed every sunrise, every heartbeat, every detail of your life. When you begin to see yourself as part of a greater design—crafted by the One who made the heavens and the earth—the chaos of the world starts to lose its grip. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. You were never meant to.
2. Choose to believe that God is good. This is where true rest begins. It’s one thing to believe that God exists; it’s another to believe He’s good—to really trust that He has your best interests at heart. We live in a world that can seem cruel and unfair, and it’s easy to wonder, “If God is good, why do bad things happen?” But we're living on earth not Heaven. It's never going to be perfect here. This life is a test to see if we will use our free will for good or for bad. When you look at life this way, you start to see that even in pain there can be purpose. That’s where faith grows. Believing in a good God means trusting that He’s will all things—yes, even the hard things—together for your good... if you let Him.
3. Do your best, then rest. You can’t control everything, and you don’t have to. When you’ve done all that you can with the time, energy, and resources you have, it’s okay to stop, take a breath, and rest in the knowledge that there’s a divine order at work. The same God who set the stars in motion is perfectly capable of handling what’s beyond your reach.
And when things go wrong—and they will—remember that this same God sent His own Son to create a pathway back to peace, back to order, back to Him. That’s how much He loves you.
This life is temporary. It’s not the destination—it’s the preparation. The next life, the one that lasts forever, is what truly counts. So while you’re here, do your best. Love deeply. Trust completely. And then rest—because the God who made you is still on the throne, and He’s still in control.
You are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are loved. And the peace you’re longing for? It’s closer than you think. It begins the moment you stop striving—and start trusting.
