Why Should I Care?

You should care because YOU Are Made in God’s Image!
That’s not just a nice idea—it’s the bold, life-changing truth of Genesis 1:27:
“So God created mankind in His own image...”
Imagine how different life would feel if you actually believed you were created in the image of God. How would that influence your confidence, your identity, your relationships?
You are not an accident. You are not a mistake. You are a child of the Creator of the universe. You were made in the image of Almighty God—infused with His strength, His creativity, His love, and His purpose.
But to understand who you are, you first have to understand who God is.
Who Is God?
To know God is to discover the origin of love, healing, provision, power, and peace. One way we get to know Him is through His names—each revealing a part of His nature.
Here are just a few of the powerful names of God:
Love — God is Love (1 John 4:8)
El-Elyon — God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth (Genesis 14:18–22)
Jehovah-Jireh — Provider (Genesis 22:14)
Jehovah-Rapha — Healer (Exodus 15:26)
Jehovah-Shalom — Peace (Judges 6:24)
Jehovah-Tsidkenu — Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6)
Jehovah-Raah — Shepherd (Psalm 23:1)
El-Olam — Eternal (Genesis 21:33)
El-Shaddai — Almighty (Genesis 17:1)
Each of these names reflects not only who God is—but also gives you a glimpse into the aspects of His image that are inside of you.
Here are the character traits of God:
The Spirit of God is reflected in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Why Should I Care?
Because when you start to know Him, you start to understand your true identity. You stop measuring your worth and identity by accomplishments and comparisons and start seeing yourself through the lens of your Creator. You begin to understand that you are enough. Then you can begin to live out your purpose—not timidly like you're afraid of of what people will think, afraid you'll fail, or any of the other things that hold us back, but you will be empowered to move ahead with confidence and peace.
God’s Word: The Source of Our Confidence
God’s Word tells us:
He knew you before He formed you (Jeremiah 1:5)
He has good plans for your life (Jeremiah 29:11)
He created you and perfectly matched you to a specific work (Ephesians 2:10)
He will never leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6)
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
This is not motivational fluff. This is the rock-solid truth of who you are and Whose you are.
How Are You Like God?
Now it’s your turn.
You were made in the image of God. He is the Creator of the universe. You have a unique ability to create--you can take an idea and make it a reality.
You carry a measure of His characteristics, like love, peace, joy, gentleness, mercy, humility and self-control. Which of His traits come naturally to you—compassion, creativity, leadership, strength, peace? Write them down. Own them. Celebrate them. This isn’t arrogance—it’s acknowledgment. You're not just anyone. You are a child of God and an heir of your Father in Heaven.
This is transformational!
When you begin to see yourself through the truth of God's Word, everything changes. You’ll walk with more confidence, live with more peace, and love with more purpose.
Now go be YOU, and step out in faith and confidence in your God-given purpose.
I am so incredibly blessed to have had people throughout my life whose words, actions and attitudes pointed me toward Jesus. The result of their influences in my life was taking the bold step to quit my job, start my business, and make a positive difference in the area in which I had an intimate understanding--child abuse. Often the difference between young people who make good choices and those who don't is that those who make good choices have at least one person in their life who is a positive influence. So while you're being a force for good, please remember to do so with the young people within your influence.

Rhonda Sciortino, author of Succeed Because of What You’ve Been Through and many other books, was abandoned by her parents and abused by others for the first 16 years of her life. She credits a brief stay with a wonderful foster family for teaching her that she was not “an accident of biology,” but that God had a specific plan for her life.
At 27 years old, Rhonda left what she thought would be her “job for life” to open her own risk management organization that protected and defended the good people and organizations that care for children who have been abused. She used the survival skills developed throughout her childhood to grow her business into a nationwide organization that analyzed the ways that children in foster care and caregivers get injured or killed. That information was built into risk avoidance strategies, which helped prevent tragedies.
Rhonda sold her business and now helps others find and live their purpose. Through her speaking, writing, videos, FIND YOUR PURPOSE NOW podcast, and FIND YOUR PURPOSE NOW program, she helps others use the obstacles in their lives as stepping stones to living God’s good purpose. Rhonda believes that using our hard times to glorify God is the fulfillment of Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”
Rhonda is the founder of Successful Survivors Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps survivors of trauma to create purposeful lives. She is co-founder of Prevent Child Trafficking Nevada, where she is working to create a prevention model that can be replicated in communities throughout the US. She is the national champion of the Love Is Action Community Initiative, which is a public/private, faith-based community initiative that gives everyone safe and effective ways to help prevent child abuse and trafficking, suicide, homelessness, and other societal ills that harm us all.
